Hard Drive

HARD DRIVE

by Shmuel Ross

Hard drive! Hard drive! flashing light
Saving data, byte by byte
What amazing team of techs
Could frame thy fearful hardware specs?

From what research could be bred
Thy reading, writing, moving heads?
What design could be so brash
To make sure you avoid a crash?

And what technician marathon
Could form thy parts of silicon?
And what clamors, and what clatters
Produced thy ever-spinning platters?

What the circuits? what connectors?
From what breadboard sprang thy sectors?
From what lab bench? on what peg
Hangs thy hundred thousand meg?

When the stores ship you by freight
And sell you off at bargain rate
Do your makers start to grin?
Do they smile when bucks roll in?

Hard drive! Hard drive! flashing light
Saving data, byte by byte
What amazing team of techs
Dare frame thy fearful hardware specs?
